Olivia Huilin Gao is a Chinese filmmaker based in New York, Shenzhen, and Beijing. Specializing in directing and production design, Olivia creates stories that blend profound emotional depth with striking visual compositions. Her work focuses on crafting immersive narratives that connect deeply with audiences, using carefully designed spaces to evoke lasting emotional resonance.
As a director and writer, her short film The Damp Season was awarded Best Drama at the 60th Chicago International Film Festival CineYouth and selected for the 2024 Cannes Short Film Corner, among other notable accolades. Olivia’s production design work has been screened at renowned festivals including the Brisbane International Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, and Rhode Island International Film Festival.
With extensive experience in creating high-quality visuals on limited budgets, Olivia brings a meticulous and innovative approach to her craft, seamlessly bridging cultures and emotions through her cinematic storytelling.
